The inspiration behind this easy grilled chicken marinade:

This recipe is inspired by my aunt. She made this chicken marinade for a family cookout.

I have become obsessed with it.

You’ve probably had Italian dressing marinated chicken breasts.

But these two twists take it a level up:

  1. Add montreal steak seasoning – it adds so much extra flavor. And it’s barely any extra effort. A win win!
  2. Use chicken thighs not chicken breasts – Chicken thighs get so much more tender and flavorful compare to chicken breasts. Plus they are foolproof because you can’t overcook them. Unlike chicken breasts, which get so dry so quick!

This chicken marinade couldn’t be easier or simpler

It’s only two ingredients: Italian dressing and montreal steak seasoning.

Lots of chicken marinades say they are easy. And then you open the ingredient lists and it’s like: extra virgin olive oil, red wine vinegar, apple cider vinegar, ground black pepper, soy sauce, brown sugar, lemon juice, balsamic vinegar…. and more!

For me, that’s not what I would call easy.

Easy means no need for measuring and minimal ingredients.

Which is what this recipe is. It’s two ingredients. And you don’t need to measure anything.

What kind of chicken to use?

You can use any kind of chicken you prefer. Chicken breasts and chicken thighs both work. Even chicken wings would work.

My pick is boneless skinless chicken thighs.

I prefer chicken thighs over grilled chicken breasts. Because whenever I grill chicken breasts they get so dry. Chicken thighs stay so moist no matter how long you cook them for.

How long to marinate the chicken for?

The longer you marinate the better. I like to marinate for a day or 2.

What to do with the leftover Montreal steak seasoning?

Make burgers!

I use premade burgers. Then season the outside with smoked paprika and montreal steak seasoning.

It’s so easy and so delicious.

What to serve with this grilled chicken recipe?

My perfect meal is: this chicken, lemon parmesan asparagus, and strawberry goat cheese salad.

  • In an airtight container or plastic bag, add the chicken, italian dressing, and montreal steak seasoning. Toss to evenly coat.
  • Refrigerate and marinate for at least 30 minutes or up to 2 days. The longer the better.
  • When ready to grill, preheat the grill to high.
  • Remove the chicken from the marinade and drain off the excess. Grill chicken for 6-7 minutes per side or until the internal temperature is 165 degrees.
