Christmas Margarita – a festive holiday cocktail! Made with cranberry juice, tequila, orange liqueur, and lime juice. Topped with blood orange sparkling water!
Last year I shared this Christmas Punch recipe. I’m obsessed with that punch. It’s so fun and festive. Perfect for the holidays. It’s balanced and not too sweet.
This year I have a Christmas cocktail part 2: Christmas Margaritas!!!
This cocktail is like a classic margarita with a touch of Christmas magic.
Do you need a cocktail shaker for this Christmas margarita recipe?
What is blood orange sparkling water?
You can find the blood orange sparkling water at most grocery stores. The kind I use is by the brand San Pellegrino.
If you can’t find it at your grocery store, you can use half blood orange juice, half sparkling water.
If you can’t find blood orange juice, you can use orange juice. But it will be much sweeter!
What is orange liqueur?
It’s a sweetened alcohol with orange flavoring! Kind of like an orange vodka but sweeter and not as strong tasting.
Most commonly, people refer to it as triple sec or Cointreau.
Why doesn’t this recipe have simple syrup?
The cranberry juice, blood orange soda water, and orange liqueur sweeten up the drink enough.
But you can add a little simple syrup if you want the cocktail sweeter.
Can you make this into a big batch cocktail?
Yes! You can turn this into a Christmas margarita punch. To make a big batch of this, combine everything in a big pitcher and serve.
- 2 ounces cranberry juice
- 2 ounces tequila
- 1 ounce triple sec (or cointreau)
- 1/2 lime, juiced
- 2 ounces blood orange sparkling water
- To a cocktail glass, add the cranberry juice, tequila, triple sec, and line juice. Stir to combine.
- Add ice and top with blood orange sparking water.
- Top with a lime wedge and fresh cranberries.
