Breakfast burger recipe! Like an egg sandwich with eggs bacon, and cheese. But taken up a level with a burger patty, avocado, fresh arugula and tomatoes. This is the ultimate breakfast!

Breakfast burger plated with bacon, cheese, a burger patty, avocado, and eggs

This breakfast burger recipe will upgrade your next brunch.  I love so many things about this recipe – the egg running over the burger, the avocado, the bacon, the cheese……..everything!!!

Recipe modifications

I like my eggs sunny side up on this burger. (I use these egg cookers to get that perfect circle.) But you could do your eggs any way you like. It would be great with scrambled or poached eggs too.

I add avocado, bacon, cheese, tomato, and arugula. But feel free to adapt to whatever your preferences are. You could do mashed avocado. Or add a sauce. Or hot sauce!

You could also shove it all into a burrito and make a breakfast burrito.

Can you freeze this recipe

Definitely! But I would only make the burgers with the burger patty, bacon, egg, and cheese. Then add the fresh ingredients when you are ready to eat it.

To freeze them – Wrap each sandwich in plastic wrap or foil and place in a resealable freezer bag. Freeze. To reheat, remove one or more sandwiches from freezer. Remove the wrapping and wrap sandwich in a paper towel. Microwave until heated through (about 1-2 minutes).

A breakfast burger served hot for brunch

What to serve with this breakfast burger:

These would be so good with a potato side. Like these hashbrown patties. Or this hashbrown casserole.

Maybe a fruit salad to keep it fresh too!

Breakfast Burger

Like an egg sandwich with eggs bacon, and cheese. But taken up a level with a burger patty, avocado, fresh arugula and tomatoes. This is the ultimate breakfast!

Ingredients:

Ground Beef patty (I like to use 80% fat)
English muffin
American Cheese
Avocado
Tomato
Applewood Smoked Bacon
Egg – fried soft
Arugula

Directions:

Grill the burger.  I like to season my burger with season salt and worcestershire sauce.

Put cheese on burger

Lightly fry the egg – you want it very soft so that it breaks and runs over the burger when you bit into it.  It’s very important not to over cook the egg.  You just need to put a little olive oil in the pan and when it gets hot crack the egg and let it cook for a couple of minutes – you don’t flip the egg.

Lightly toast the English muffin (with butter if you choose)

Layer sandwich.
