Strawberry Brownie Heart Kebabs

When chocolate covered strawberries just aren’t enough… these strawberry brownie kebabs deliver the best of both flavors in the cutest festive form.

I have been patiently waiting to share these beauties with you… but I just can’t wait anymore. I’m the queen of impatience. For me, “allow the brownies to cool completely before cutting” means putting them in the refrigerator to speed up the process. I also begin wearing flip flops in April and break out my scarves in August.

Even if Valentine’s Day is still two weeks away, who says we can’t get the party started a little bit early?

This recipe reminds me of a chocolate covered strawberry, but so much better. I remember making chocolate covered strawberries ever year for valentines day to go with my classroom Valentine’s Day cards. Now that I think back on it… I was pretty fancy, huh? I mean, a fresh strawberry dipped in creamy chocolate sure beats a snickers bar in my humble opinion, anyway.

This play on the chocolate covered strawberry flavors is a definite winner. Bonus: it’s beyond easy. These kebabs don’t really resemble a chocolate covered strawberry besides the colors and flavors… instead there’s a little more chocolate in the ratio of chocolate to strawberry thanks to those super fudgy brownies and the chocolate is drizzled over top instead of dipped. Oh, and it’s on a stick – which totally makes it so much more fun!

This small batch recipe yields lots of kebabs, which makes them perfect for parties and sharing with friends. One for you and one for your sweetheart and one for your best friend/kid/sibling/parent/any chocolate lover in your life. You get the point!

We took these kebabs to all our friends over the weekend to spread a little extra Valentine’s Day love with them. You should have seen their faces… there is nothing better than getting a baked treat delivered to your door.. and there is nothing better than the gift of giving those baked treats and seeing how much they enjoy them.

To make these kebabs, I used Pillsbury boxed brownies… I always keeps these boxes on hand, I tell you. In my opinon, there is seriously nothing better than a super chewy and fudgy boxed brownie. They are so much easier, quicker, and cheaper to make than homemade brownies. We always keep a few boxed on hand for a moment’s notice.

To make the brownie and strawberry hearts I just used the smallest heart cookie cutter I could find and cut them out. Then you simply thread them alternatively onto a kebab stick and drizzle melted chocolate over top. Simple and delicious as that!

Strawberry Brownie Heart Kebabs

When chocolate covered strawberries just aren’t enough… these strawberry brownie kebabs deliver the best of both flavors in the cutest festive form.

Ingredients:

Box of brownies (9×13 pan)
1 pint large strawberries, washed and hulled
5 ounces of baking chocolate, melted
Bamboo/wooden skewers

Directions:

Make the brownies according the package instructions. Once the brownies are done, remove from the oven and cool.

Meanwhile, cut the strawberries in half and use a small heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut hearts out of each half. Repeat with remaining strawberries.

Once the brownies are cool, using a small heart-shaped cookie cutter cut hearts out of the cooled brownies.

Alternate threading brownies and strawberries onto wooden skewers. Drizzle the melted chocolate over the kebabs, if desired. Refrigerate until ready to serve.
