Fountain of Youth

Life with Jen #9

I’m in need of a Fountain of Youth…..  :)

This week was a great week………which included me turning 42 :)

My birthday always falls at a time when it feels like the whole world is on a diet and celebrated out…..I have always had to wait until after my birthday to reset my healthy eating. You can’t diet on your birthday right? Although after all the November – December eating /celebrating that we did, I sure felt like I could use some healthy eating!

We went to eat Indian food……….my favorite.
We started with some “Vegetable Samosas” and “Lasooni Gobhi”……and Naan of course! Then, we had Dal, Baingan Bahaar (my favorite) and Chicken Tikka Masala. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh heavenly meal!!!!! I could eat that every night!
For dessert……my favorite – chocolate chip cupcakes from Frostings. And there you have my perfect meal 

The best thing about my birthday………………my new Breville Crush Juicer.

A.W.E.S.O.M.E.!!!!!! I think it is my favorite kitchen tool I have ever had……I think I like it better than the Vitamix even. That’s a close one! It is simply wonderful! I am soooooooooooo glad I got it!

I did some research on juicers and I chose the Breville Crush Juicer at William Sonoma because it is a slow juicer. Because of it’s slow juicing speeds it allows the fiber of the fruit or vegetable to be used to it fullest health benefit. And it is so quiet…unlike a lot of other juicers. It is really – really – really easy to use too. That is a big plus! Sometimes things like this can be really complicated. But it isn’t – it is easy to use and easy to clean. Because of it’s slow juicing process you are able to get more juice out of the fruits and vegetables than a faster – high speed juicer. I really can’t say enough wonderful things about it! The juice tastes wonderful and it is so healthy for you.

The key ingredient in this and many green juices….is….LIMES…very important.

I really think that green juices I have tried to drink in the past haven’t been tolerable because they didn’t have cucumbers or limes. They really are key to the juice tasting good. I know you are probably thinking……right…..sure….it tastes good???? But I swear it does! I have done my share of wheat grass shots etc and they are painful. This is really good! I promise.

Here is my breakfast: “Fountain of Youth Juice

The consistency looks thick but it isn’t at all….it’s like a clear green juice.  The straining after it is juiced gets rid of any pulp.  I am not a fan of pulp……you won’t have any in this juice!

William Sonoma has a 30 day juicing menu….click here to see it. It might give you some ideas.

Happy Juicing ……… new found passion!

Bon Appetit
