These are inspired by those dirt and worms cups we used to make as kids. But we’re doing chocolate covered strawberries instead of gummy worms. 1) Because it’s cuter and 2) because tastes better too. I never really thought gummy worms went well in chocolate pudding. But I did think the concept was cool.

These are so cute and delicious. The chocolate pudding is like a fruit dip for your strawberry.

I use these orange candy melts to get an orange chocolate dipped strawberry.

Should strawberries be cold before dipping in chocolate?

No! They actually do better when you dip them at room temperature.

Do you wash and dry strawberries before dipping in chocolate?

You also don’t want to wash the strawberries right before dipping in chocolate. The water from washing will cause the chocolate to not adhere to the strawberry. If you do need to wash the strawberries, make sure you let them dry completely before dipping.

How do you keep an Easter chocolate covered strawberry from getting soggy?

To minimize sweating, place a couple sheets of paper towels into the bottom of an airtight container. Store the strawberries on top of the paper towels. If you need to store multiple layers of strawberries, place pieces of wax paper or parchment paper between the layers.

Total Time: 40 minutes
Servings: 6 pudding cups

Ingredients

  • 6 strawberries
  • 1 cup Orange Candy Melts
  • 6 chocolate pudding cups such as ConAgra Snack Pack
  • 20 Oreos crushed into fine crumbs

Instructions

  • Melt the candy melts according to the package directions. Dip each strawberries into the melted candy and let set on piece of foil until hardened. Drizzle stripes across the top (I put leftover melted coating in a small bag and snipped the corner to make it easier to drizzle straight lines), and let cool and harden.
  • Into each pudding cup layer 1 tablespoon of crushed Oreos. Insert the tip of the strawberry into the top of each pudding cup. Serve immediately.
