Quick, easy and delicious! The fish gets coated and baked in a thick seasoned almond crust and served with a side of homemade tartar, it’s one of our favorite fish recipes!
We have been going, going, going non-stop since school got out! Between neighborhood potlucks, beach trips, picnics, BBQs, backyard dinner parties and more, I don’t think we have had a stay-in-your-pjs-all-day kind of day yet! But hey, the more plans the merrier, right?
Of all the things we’ve done this summer, we’ve definitely had our share of dinner parties and cookouts. Which means we’ve had our share of time spent in the kitchen. And in all that time spent in the kitchen, I have come up with a healthy, wow-worthy, {secretly quick and easy} main dish to serve our guests.
Baked, flaky Tilapia coated with a thick almond crust seasoned with ground mustard, dill, and cayenne pepper. To top it off, the filets get dunked into a completely irresistible homemade tartar sauce.
Seriously everyone we have made it for has requested the recipe before we could even get it up on the blog to share the link with them!
The steps to prepare the fish are simple: rinse and pat dry, dunk in flour, dunk in egg wash, dunk in almond mixture, bake, serve! Easy as that!
For a gluten free version, substitute almond meal for the flour. Almond meal can be bought in the bulk aisle of your local grocery store, but it’s just as easy to make at home. To make almond meal, all you do is put about a cup of almonds into a food processor or blender and process until the almonds have almost the same texture as flour. Of course, the almonds will never get as fine as flour, but close is good.
** Be careful not to over process when you are making the almond meal because that could result in almond butter instead of almond meal!
Now for one of my favorite components of this dish: Homemade Tartar sauce!! It’s unbelievably delicious. I’m pretty sure I could get my little brother to eat anything with this creamy, dreamy stuff on the side. The ingredients are actually pretty basic, but there’s something about when the grated onion flavors mend with the lemon juice, dill and dill relish – it’s out of this world!
This recipe is definitely a keeper. The whole family loves it! And recipes that the whole family love are hard to come across these days because of our very different preferences: My mom and I – Veggies, veggies, and more VEGGIES! My brother and dad – Meat, meat, and more MEAT!
And better yet, it’s so easy that it’s definitely going to be put in our rotation of quick and easy weeknight dinners.
This fish pairs perfectly with our all-time favorite quinoa salad, grilled veggies, crispy baked french fries, lemon Parmesan asparagus, or a summer chopped salad!
